Each year, more than 300 high school students in the Twin Cities earn a year-long paid internship at a partner company through Genesys Works Twin Cities. The mission is not changing. How it is delivered and funded must, and that work begins now.
kpCompanies is honored to partner with Genesys Works Twin Cities to find its next Executive Director, a full-time, permanent seat accountable to the Board of Directors. The organization is on stable footing and ready for a leader who will stay, listen, and set direction.
In the Twin Cities since 2008, Genesys Works pairs eight weeks of training with that internship year, and more than 4,000 students have taken part. In 2025 alone, 329 interns worked alongside 35 partner companies, building skills, relationships, and a path to economic mobility.
Experience & Qualifications
- Executive leadership experience at comparable scope, with accountability for results, a budget, and a team
- A record of personally securing significant gifts or revenue commitments — making the ask and closing it
- Credibility within the Twin Cities business, philanthropic, and civic community, with trusted relationships among senior corporate and community leaders

Step Into Meaningful Work
The Executive Director leads a team of 20 and stewards an $8 million organization, owning the employer, donor, and community relationships that make each student's internship possible. Fundraising is personal here: cultivating, asking, and closing major gifts from individuals, corporations, and foundations, alongside the internship fees employers pay. This is also the organization's primary external voice in the Twin Cities, re-engaging employer partners and site supervisors around the mission. The role hires and leads the corporate partnership lead, and secures annual internship commitments beginning with 2027. Inside, it means leading a senior team that owns systems and daily execution, and rebuilding trust through transparency and context.
Twelve to eighteen months in, success looks concrete: revenue stable, growing, and more diversified, with new approaches to philanthropic giving. Internship numbers hold and climb, with 2027 employer commitments secured. The Executive Director owns key donor and employer relationships directly, and has brought forward a plan to update and expand what the organization offers, built on the employer partnerships already in place. The board and the Executive Director agree on what the year is for and how it is measured. Wages & Compensation
This role offers a competitive salary of $200,000–$240,000, commensurate with experience.
